Swansea University academic Norah Keating is among a group of eminent social scientists who have been honoured by the Academy of Social Sciences
The Academy has conferred the award of Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences on 51 UK social scientists including Professor Keating, Professor of Rural Ageing, at Swansea University’s Centre for Innovative Ageing (CIA).
Professor Keating is a social gerontologist whose professional life has been devoted to enhancing quality of life of older adults. She has an international reputation for her work in families, liveable communities and care.
All have been elected based on their outstanding contributions to research and to the application of social science to policy, education, society and the economy.
Professor Norah Keating said:
“It is an honour to join colleagues who are doing such fine theoretical, empirical and policy research contributing to the academy.”
Professor Roger Goodman, President of the Academy of Social Sciences, said:
“We are immensely proud to welcome 51 new Fellows to the Academy who are so highly accomplished in their fields. They have been selected following a robust review by their peers and have been recognised for the excellence of their work and its applications in academia, business and the public sector.
“Over the course of their careers they have surpassed the normal requirements of their positions and many have used social sciences to deliver public benefit in the realms of social, economic and environmental policy, and in higher education, regional development, government and law.
