A Pontllanfraith based company is gearing up to begin manufacturing vital ventilator connectors to help during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Motion29, based at Newbridge Road Industrial Estate in Pontllanfraith, has secured a grant of £6,811 from Caerphilly County Borough Council to purchase equipment enabling them to be ready to react at short notice in supplying connectors for ventilator projects.

The funding has been granted from the council’s Caerphilly Enterprise Fund and is match funded by Motion29.  In addition to supporting the Government’s response to COVID-19, the funding will also help to safeguard 11 existing jobs at the company.

Andrew Wilkinson, Managing Director at Motion29, said “The response from the council has been outstanding.  They took on board the urgency of the requirement and two days later we received their approval of our grant application.  We have now ordered the equipment we require to enable us to get ready to supply connectors to support the Covid-19 ventilator effort.”

Cllr Sean Morgan, the council’s Deputy Leader said, “Supporting local businesses and safeguarding jobs is vital during these difficult times.  The grant to Motion29 goes much further than this; as well as supporting our local economy, it will also have a direct impact in saving lives throughout the UK during this time of national emergency.”
