Community recycling centres will reopen in Bridgend County Borough for essential use only on Tuesday 26 May 2020.
The date has been agreed with Welsh Government as part of an all-Wales approach for the safe reopening of recycling sites.
The council is working alongside its waste partner Kier to develop procedures, processes and restrictions which will ensure that the sites can be accessed for essential use safely and without exposing staff and users to the Covid-19 coronavirus.
It follows recent changes to lockdown requirements in Wales which saw recycling centres temporarily closing as part of the efforts to combat the spread of the pandemic.
The council and Kier are currently setting up the procedures which will be in operation at the recycling sites, and we will be making further announcements about this very soon. However, we cannot stress strongly enough that the sites will be for essential use only, and that householders should only visit them if they cannot safely store materials at home until lockdown is over.

Councillor Richard Young, Cabinet Member for Communities, added: “We are anticipating that the sites will be in high demand and that queues are inevitable, especially as users will need to observe the temporary procedures that we will have in place to limit exposure, so please only visit them if it is absolutely necessary.
“As always, we hope that people will use the sites sensibly, and will work with us as we seek to restore this service in the face of the ongoing pandemic.”
