A four-year-old girl will complete her 20km in 20 days on Saturday (23rd May) and has raised over £2,000 for the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity.
Evie Docherty from Penarth chose to run 20km – the distance between the Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital for Wales to her house. Her brother, Evan, who is five months old was treated in the Children’s Assessment Unit (CAU) and on Island Ward when he was a few weeks old.
Mum, Danielle, is really proud of Evie and said: “She took on the challenge to say thank you to the hospital staff and to help the Noah’s Ark Charity through these difficult times as they don’t get support from NHS Charities Together.”
The Noah’s Ark Children’s Hospital Charity supports the only children’s hospital in Wales, helping to ensure world class care and the best outcome and experience possible for the young patients who receive treatment there. Right now, the charity is doing all it can to support children, parents, and staff at Noah’s Ark to deal with the fallout from the current crisis. As a relatively small charity, it can respond quickly and is helping staff at the hospital in any way possible. Currently, the charity is supplying food for parents in isolation and iPads so that young patients can stay in touch with their families under the temporary one parent only policy.
Kath Fisher, community fundraising manager for the Noah’s Ark Charity, said “The support of amazing children like Evie are vital to us right now– not only so that we are able to respond to the needs of children and families right now, but to ensure that we are still able to be here when all this is over. The current crisis will eventually pass but the needs of some of the most unwell children in Wales will always be there. We’d like to say a huge thank you to Evie for her help and dedication.”
