The Good Food Cardiff Autumn Festival is returning for its seventh year, running throughout the city from 12 September to 31 October 2026. The festival brings together community groups, schools, gardens, and local businesses to host a wide range of free events centered around the joy of growing, cooking, and sharing good food.
All events align with Food Cardiff’s five core goals: promoting a healthy Cardiff, building an environmentally sustainable city, supporting a thriving local economy, ensuring a fair and connected food system, and empowering the local food movement.
Food Cardiff offered small grants of up to £500 to support third-sector organisations, community groups, and schools in running a wide range of food-related activities.
The festival officially kicks off at the St Fagans Food Festival over the weekend of September 12 and 13, from 10:30 to 16:30.
A dedicated Good Food Cardiff Zone tent will feature family-friendly activities, practical workshops, demonstrations, and talks. Supported by Food & Drink Wales, the zone celebrates local food and encourages visitors to learn more about food that is good for both people and the planet.
A diverse lineup of free public activities will take place in neighborhoods across Cardiff. Highlights include:

Fun and Food Day (Sept 19, 11am–3pm): Hosted by Trowbridge Pantry at Trowbridge Community Centre. Celebrate the Pantry’s 5th birthday with food-themed activities and refreshments.

Food Afternoon Gathering (Sept 19, 2–6pm): Hosted by Alhusna Community Trust at Anderson Field. A free outdoor event for local families to share cultural food and gain healthy eating tips. (this is an invitation-only event)

The Birth Partner Project 10 Year Celebration (Sept 23, 10am-2pm): Hosted by The Birth Partner Project at Trinity Centre. A community celebration with food of the organisation’s 10th anniversary.

Celebrating Autumn at the Allotment (Sept 25, 11am–4pm): Hosted by Breathe Creative CIC & Growing Green CIC at Leckwith Droves Allotment. Harvest celebration with music, workshops, and food.

Apple Day (Sept 26, 11am–3pm): Hosted by Orchard Cardiff at Global Gardens. Family-friendly apple-themed activities, including juice making and storytelling.

Global Gardens 10th Birthday Celebration (Sept 26, 12–5pm): Hosted by Global Gardens Project at Global Gardens. Garden anniversary celebration with workshops, food, and music.

Community Meals (Sept 30, 1pm & Oct 30, 5.30-8pm): Hosted by ACE / HETRA at Llandaff North Community Centre and Hollybush Estate. Multicultural menus celebrating local food, culture and community.

Quiz Night at the Pantry (Sept 30, 6–9pm): Hosted by Tremorfa Pantry at Tremorfa Community Hall. An evening of quizzing and a freshly cooked meal.

Kenneth Treasure Court Community Barbecue (Oct 1): Hosted by United Welsh Housing Association at Kenneth Treasure Court. A seasonal community barbecue.

Community Food Celebration: Taste & Learn Indian Flavours (Oct 3, 11am–2pm): Hosted by Pedal Power Cardiff at Pedal Power Café. Indian vegetarian cooking demonstrations and tasting.

St Philip’s Church Community Lunch (Oct 21, 12pm): Hosted by St Philip’s Church, Tremorfa. A free lunch and community gathering.

Riverside Autumn Food and Fun Festival (Oct 28, 11am–2pm): Hosted by South Riverside Community Development Centre at Wyndham Street Centre. Autumn food demonstrations and arts & crafts.

Forgotten Foods Café (Oct 30, 1–3pm): Hosted by Splott Community Volunteers at The Old STAR Centre. A free event celebrating seasonal, overlooked vegetables.

Community Harvest Feast (Date TBC): Hosted by Ely and Caerau Learning Partnership Board. A celebration of seasonal food and community culture.

Harvest Milling & Community Baking Hub (Date TBC): Hosted by The Trinity. Workshops on traditional milling and bread baking.
In addition to the public festival events, primary schools across the city are hosting a range of events celebrating harvest, connecting with their communities through food and teaching pupils about growing, cooking and eating good food.
