On Sunday 24th June, fundraisers will take part in the Pembroke Walk for Life to raise funds for Kidney Wales.

The walk is set to start at 1pm and those wishing to take part are encouraged to arrive in time for registration at 12:15pm.

The walk will see participants head out around two of the football pitches at Bush Camp Playing Fields and will be led by volunteer Jade Broadhurst.

Jade is a former Learning Support Assistant but took the decision to leave her job to support her six-year-old son Cody after he was diagnosed with a rare kidney disease at age three.

On why she was inspired to help raise money for Kidney Wales, Jade said:

“Kidney Wales means a lot to us. When Cody had a long stay in hospital leading up to his diagnosis, the charity provided us with financial support so that we could stay with him as we live over 100 miles away from the hospital.

“This is the first time I have ever fundraised for anything but I’m certain it will be the first of many.”

The event is in conjunction with a series of walks that are taking place across Wales and is a crucial element of Kidney Wales’ annual fundraising activities.

Funds raised by all the walks across Wales will help continue the work done by Kidney Wales, which includes offering new services, equipment and facilities and developing innovative programmes into renal research.

You can still get involved with this event by coming along and registering your details with the Walk organisers at Bush Camp Playing Fields at 12.15pm on Sunday 24th.
