Celsa Steel, the UK’s largest manufacturer of steel reinforcements, is celebrating after scooping two awards at the 2018 Cardiff Business Awards, including the top prize of Business of the Year.
The Cardiff Business of the Year awards are now in their fourth year and seek to celebrate those organisations whose entrepreneurial and innovative ventures are making a difference to Cardiff, Wales and their sector as a whole.
This year’s ceremony was held in Cardiff City Halls, and was hosted by BBC journalist and presenter, Sian Lloyd and with a live performance from Welsh Broadway and West End musical theatre actor and singer, John Owen-Jones
Celsa picked up the Cardiff Business of the Year award during the star-studded event, beating out 55 other nominees to scoop the top prize. In announcing the award, judges praised Celsa’s commitment to maintaining an environmentally friendly business strategy and close relationship with their work-force.
Celsa were also crowned the Green Business of the Year, for their exceptional commitment to making a positive impact within Cardiff and the rest of the UK by setting ambitious environmental targets, significantly reducing waste, and ensuring that all the steel manufactured by their factories is sourced from recycled scrap metal.

“The recognition of our efforts to make continuous improvement in all aspects of our business helps us in our drive to becoming a green recycler contributing to the circular economy, using 98% recycled materials in our process. We still have further to go to reduce our emissions but we are much closer to our target of becoming carbon neutral”.
