The management team that will be heading up the brand-new Marco Pierre White Steakhouse Bar & Grill in the SA1 area of Swansea have been appointed.

Rhys Andrews, John Taylor and Mark Humphries have now taken up new roles as the general manager, head chef and food and beverage manager respectively, as work to open the new restaurant continues at pace.

With each heralding from Swansea will mean the new venue, that’s located alongside the city’s popular waterside, will have a distinct Swansea vibe that will make it the place to be seen.

With 15 years’ experience in hospitality management in both hotels and restaurants, Andrews joins from La Luna restaurant and Luna Lounge Cocktail and Tapas Bar in Talbot Green, prior to which he ran Wales’ best restaurant 2012-2015 Sosban restaurant Llanelli.

Heading the kitchen team, Taylor brings a wealth of experience having worked as Head chef at the renowned Mermaid Café Bar and Restaurant on the Mumbles.

As F&B Manager, Humphries started out in the hospitality sector working at his parent’s hotels at the age of 13! He also worked for Hard Rock Café brand and independent holiday companies including Celtic Holiday’s and Wiseman’s Bridge in Pembrokeshire.

The new Steakhouse Bar & Grill will replace what was La Parrilla which closed in January 2020 and follows a deal between business partners Steve Lewis and Dave Bellis who took on the lease of the property, and Black and White Hospitality, which is the franchising arm of Marco Pierre White Restaurants.

David said: “It’s great to have on board the main management team for this exciting new venture and wish them the very best as we head towards opening. Despite the lockdown, we’re still on track to be ready for when the Welsh Government allows the people of Wales to venture out to enjoy a meal with friends and family and we can’t wait to open.

“The team will now be overseeing the recruitment and training side of things while making sure the new restaurant and bar meets the exacting standards in terms of atmosphere and food required by Marco Pierre White!”
