Wern Park in Nelson is home to a brand new skate park following a consultation with local residents.

Nelson marks the first of a number of openings of wet pour concrete skate facilities to be commissioned by Caerphilly County Borough Council and has been welcomed by Nelson residents following their involvement in developing the new design earlier this year.  Residents were given the opportunity to have their say on the proposed development at a meeting held in Nelson Library at the start of the project.

Cabinet Member for Neighbourhood Services Cllr. Nigel George said,

“We’re really pleased to have been able to work alongside the local community to develop and deliver this brand new skate park in Nelson. This is one of many new recreational facilities planned for Caerphilly county borough and funding projects such as this reaffirm our commitment to healthy active living within our local communities.”

Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member Councillor Sean Morgan who also represents Nelson as a local member said,

“We are very proud of this new facility.  The original site was coming to the end of its life and this new facility has quickly become a very popular place for our youngsters and visitors to the village to enjoy.”
