Llancaiach Fawr Manor in Nelson is renowned for being a unique wedding venue with its stunning Manor House, visitor centre, period gardens and rolling countryside views. Thursday saw the first wedding ceremony to take place since lockdown and Caerphilly County borough Council Registrar Christine Hughes conducted the ceremony, the first one outside of the Registry office since lockdown.

It was an intimate ceremony with celebratory drinks in the Manor gardens following the ceremony. Danny and Karen have been waiting to see if their wedding day could go ahead for many months. They were determined not to cancel and were thrilled when the Welsh Government guidance on wedding ceremonies was changed, allowing them to marry as planned.

Cllr Lisa Phipps, Cabinet Member for Homes, Places and Tourism said “it was lovely to see the Manor come to life again, to welcome people back to this stunning venue and have their wedding with us is very special. We are hoping to be able to hold more ceremonies soon and eventually wedding receptions, when Welsh Government guidance allows.”

Llancaiach Fawr has re-opened its gift shop and café for takeaway and outdoor service, offering afternoon teas and lunches along with takeaway Sunday Lunch. The café is open Monday to Saturday from 27th July and Sunday’s for Sunday lunch collection (by pre-order).
