Cardiff and Vale College has welcomed back its talented Sports Academies students for socially distanced, non-contact pre-season training.
Learners from the Football, Netball and Rugby Academies were able to come back for training at the College’s specialist Cardiff International Sports Campus in Leckwith. Students from the Cricket Academy CAVC runs with Glamorgan CC will be returning shortly to Sophia Gardens for training.
CAVC Sports Academies are made up of students from across the College who are studying either A Levels or one of the College’s many career focused vocational courses. The Academies enable students to balance their studies with first-class coaching, outstanding specialist facilities and wraparound support, so students reach their potential in their studies and their sport.
For the non-contact training, specific areas have been divided into zones, with the emphasis being on skills and conditioning. All sessions are based on Welsh Government and National Governing guidelines and learners are limited to small groups which must stay 2m apart.
CAVC Head of Sport, Tourism and Pubic Services James Young said: “We’re absolutely delighted to be able to welcome back students from our Sport Academies for non-contact training in a safe environment.
“At Cardiff and Vale College the health and safety of our staff and students is our top priority. That is why we have put in place stringent measures to ensure our training programme begins in a safe and secure way.”
