The 26 year-old man who died as a result of a collision which involved an off-road motorcycle shortly before 1.00pm on Sunday 30th August has been named as Cameron Samuel Rees, 26, from Gwaun Cae Gurwen.

His family has paid tribute to him, saying: “Sadly on Sunday 30th August we lost our precious boy Sam, in a tragic motorbike accident.

“Sam was a much loved son, step-son, brother, step-brother, brother-in-law, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, partner, friend and father to his wonderful little boy Calan.

“Sam was a happy, cheeky chappy who always had a smile on his face and he was loved by all who knew and met him.  Sam was one of the nicest people you could meet, and he always had time for everyone he knew.

“Sam loved being outdoors and riding his motorbike with his friends and family.  Sadly, on this occasion, Sam’s life was taken much too soon, whilst he was out doing what he loved to do on his motorbike.

“Sam loved all his family and friends deeply, but his love for his son Calan was something else.  Sam adored his little boy, and lived for him.  Calan was everything to Sam, he was his whole world and was always by his side.  Sam loved being a dad more than anything.

“We are utterly devastated Sam’s life has been taken, and at such a young age. Sam will be deeply missed by all his family, friends, all those who loved him. He leaves behind a massive hole in all our hearts and he will never be forgotten.

“We kindly ask to be left alone to grieve at this extremely distressing time.

    “Sleep tight boy xxx.”

South Wales Police is continuing to appeal for any witnesses to the collision which happened in a rear lane between St David’s Road and Brook Terrace, Tairgwaith, near Gwaun Cae Gurwen in Neath Port Talbot.

The incident involved an orange KTM off road motorcycle, which collided with the rear boundary wall of a property.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or may have information relating to the incident, including any dash-cam or phone footage is asked to contact South Wales Police on 101 quoting occurrence 2000316743.
