One person in Aberystwyth is celebrating the fact they are now £30,000 better off all thanks to their postcode.

The Queen Street resident scooped the king sized cash prize when SY23 1PU was announced as a winner with People’s Postcode Lottery on Sunday 13th September.

The winner chose to remain anonymous but the prize will be paid into their bank account. They were the only person playing with the winning postcode but had anyone else been then they would also have won £30,000.

Jeff Brazier, TV presenter and People’s Postcode Lottery ambassador, congratulated the players on the windfall.

He said: “I’m sure it’s been a weekend to remember for our winner in Aberystwyth – a big congratulations to them! I hope they get the chance to celebrate today and treat themselves to something special.”

People’s Postcode Lottery costs £10 a month to play and there are guaranteed winners every day. People play with their chosen postcode and are automatically entered into all draws.

A minimum of 32% of ticket sales goes directly to charities and players of People’s Postcode Lottery have helped raise over £600 million to date for thousands of good causes across Britain and internationally.

Local charities close to the winner have also been supported. Earlier this year, Tregaron Family Centre was awarded £14,271 to run a lunch club for locals.

This draw was promoted on behalf of African Parks, which has received £3.7 million in funding raised by players. This funding helps it manage 17 national parks and protected areas in 11 countries, covering over 13 million hectares.
