The lights have been turned back on at the Ffwrnes Theatre in Llanelli for the first time since March ahead of the theatre’s debut into the world of digital performances. And first up to take the stage as part of the Live from the Ffwrnes series is a local soul band with a big sound, Gimme Some Lovin’.

Recorded live from the Ffwrnes Theatre in Llanelli, then streamed to audiences at home online, the Live from the Ffwrnes series of aims to re-create the magic of a live music gig while Carmarthenshire Theatres remain closed in line with Welsh Government guidelines.

The music performances are free to view, although donations are welcomed, and the shows can be accessed via several online platforms such as YouTube. Audiences can register for a free ticket on the theatre’s website at www.theatrausirgar.co.uk. Once signed up, audience members will be emailed a link to view the performance when it premieres. The gig will be available to watch on-demand for a full week following its release.

Gimme Some Lovin’ are a 9-piece soul group from Llanelli. This seasoned party band have been entertaining crowds at prestigious events up and down the UK for many years. With a set-list jam packed with the biggest soul classics from the last few decades including smash-hits from the likes of James Brown, Blues Brothers, The Commitments, Wilson Picket and many, many more, Gimme Some Lovin’ will bring the swing back to your Saturday night on October 10th.

Talking about taking part in the Live from the Ffwrnes series, the band’s manager, Mark Howard said: “Recording this performance at the Ffwrnes was a great experience.

After so many months of not being able to stretch our musical legs, it was the perfect way to get back into things.” Reflecting on the position of the entertainment industry currently, Mark added: “We’re eager to support local venues in any way we can. We’ll need venues to play in when this is all over, so we’ve got to do what we can to help keep the industry moving!”

The Gimme Some Lovin’ performance will premiere at 7pm on Saturday 10th October and will be available to watch on-demand until October 17th on the theatre’s YouTube channel and the Welsh online sharing platform AM amam.cymru/theatrausirgar.
