After the phenomenal success of The Big Retreat Festival, the team behind this much-loved event is delighted to announce their newest festival: The Big Family Retreat. Taking place from 29th May to 1st June 2025, this unique festival has been specially designed for families with young children—a magical weekend of discovery, wellbeing, and unforgettable adventures.

The Big Family Retreat is the sister festival to the successful The Big Retreat Festival, which will be taking place from 23rd May to 26th May 2025.  While The Big Retreat will always remain child-friendly, the new festival is aimed primarily towards families with younger children.

Set amidst the stunning beauty of the Pembrokeshire countryside, The Big Family Retreat offers families an extraordinary opportunity to reconnect with one another, recharge their spirits, and create lifelong memories in an intimate and immersive environment.

“While The Big Retreat Festival will always remain family-friendly, we recognised the need to create something just for families—a space where parents and children alike could truly connect, grow, and share new experiences together,” says Amber Lort-Phillips, Founder of The Big Family Retreat. “This is about celebrating the magic of family life in a way that only a dedicated event like this can achieve.”

    The Big Family Retreat

The Big Family Retreat takes families on a journey filled with wonder, imagination, and connection. Highlights include:

    • An Epic Quest: Families will embark on a storytelling adventure, collecting coins from mystical realms to unlock the secrets of Cerridwen’s Cauldron.
    • Inspiring Activities: From wild bushcraft, sport and water escapades to creative workshops and wellbeing sessions, every family member can discover something they’ll love.
    • Evening Enchantment: As the sun sets, the festival transforms into a magical world, culminating in the spectacular Forest Masquerade Ball—a celebration of wonder, creativity, and togetherness.
    • Further information on line-up to follow in the New Year.

With only 300 families invited, this exclusive event ensures a personal and immersive experience, where every moment matters.

While The Big Retreat Festival has always welcomed families and created spaces for children, its broader audience spans all ages and interests. The Big Family Retreat is a response to the growing desire for a tailored event where the focus is entirely on the needs, wellbeing, and joy of families.

“Parents often tell us they’re looking for opportunities to reconnect with their children without distractions,” explains Amber. “By designing a retreat exclusively for families, we’re creating a space where parents and kids can share magical moments together, surrounded by the beautiful Pembrokeshire countryside.”

The Big Family Retreat encourages families to step away from screens and schedules, replacing them with hands-on adventures, shared stories, and the simple joys of being present together.

From mindfulness workshops to nature-based activities, wellbeing is at the core of The Big Family Retreat. Whether it’s building dens in the woods, enjoying creative sessions, or listening to enchanting bedtime stories under the stars, every activity is designed to foster meaningful connection and a sense of renewal.

“This isn’t about cramming every second with activities—it’s about creating space for families to breathe, laugh, and bond,” adds Amber. “It’s a celebration of the simple, magical moments that matter most.”

Tickets for this exclusive family retreat go on sale 12th January 2025, and with just 300 families invited, spaces are limited. Visit www.thebigfamilyretreat.com to join the waitlist and be the first to access early bird tickets.
