    A new Welsh language football programme launched

    Radio Aber and Cered (Menter Iaith Ceredigion) have come together to launch a brand new Welsh language radio programme on football called ‘Cefn y Rhwyd’.

    The programme is broadcast live every Monday at 12pm on Facebook Live Cered and Radio Aber.

    “It’s great to be able to work with Cered to create our first live programme! We have worked very closely together over the last few years promoting the Welsh language, especially in schools. The programme will be available to everyone in the community with a particular focus on local football” said Sam Thomas, director of Radio Aber.

    Rhodri Francis, Cered Development Officer will be responsible for presenting the programme and will welcome special guests to join him to discuss the weekend’s events and aim to involve local players as well.

    “It is a privilege for Cered to be a part of Radio Aber’s first live broadcast programmes. Cefn y Rhwyd will be discussing a lot of football related things including discussing weekend results. We will also be inviting guests interested in the football field – including current and former local club players to discuss stories and stories. We’ll be discussing the future challenges of the game especially with Covid 19” said Rhodri Francis.

    Councillor Catherine Hughes, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Porth Ceredigion, Early Intervention, Well-being Hubs and Culture said: “This is part of the drive to encourage people in the county to discuss Sport in Welsh. This program will hopefully bring a smile to everyone’s face on a Monday!”
