South Wales Police are at the scene of an ongoing incident at Gabalfa Interchange in Cardiff this morning, with major roads closed in both directions.
The A48 is currently closed in both directions while officers deal with the incident.
Gabalfa Interchange is also closed inbound and outbound between the Aneurin Bevan pub and St Mark’s Church.
South Wales Police has asked motorists to avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible.
In a statement, the force said: “We’re at the scene of an incident at Gabalfa Interchange.
“The A48 is currently closed in both directions.
“Gabalfa Interchange is CLOSED inbound and outbound from The Aneurin Bevan to St Mark’s Church.
“Please avoid the area and use alternative routes where possible. Thank you for your patience.”
There is speculation locally that police may be speaking with an individual in connection with the incident. However, this has not been confirmed by South Wales Police and no further details about the nature of the incident have been released at this stage.
Motorists travelling through north Cardiff should expect disruption and allow additional time for their journeys.
This is a developing incident and further information will be provided when it becomes available.
