A special audio tour in the Welsh language has been unveiled by an award-winning Powys visitor attraction this autumn. The new way of exploring the Victorian world of The Judge’s Lodging museum in Presteigne – www.judgeslodging.org.uk – allows Welsh speakers to listen to the Victorian inhabitants of the building tell their own stories. The inhabitants range from Mary, the hardworking maid, to Richard Lister Venables, chairman of the magistrates and employer of famous Victorian diarist, Francis Kilvert. St John Ambulance Cymru has secured a contract to provide a new Welfare and Falls Rapid Response service in the Pembrokeshire area, which will see staff responding to incidents to assess and assist people, reducing demand on Emergency Medical Services. The Haverfordwest-based scheme will be run in partnership with Hywel Dda University Health Board (HDUHB) and will initially run from October 1st 2024 until March 31st 2025. The 2024 shortlist for the prestigious Rhys Davies National Short Story Competition has been announced. A 29-year-old woman from St Mellons is taking on the Principality Cardiff Half Marathon in memory of her brother. Becky Davies will be doing so to raise money for Tŷ Hafan to give back to the charity that she said has had a profound impact on her family. The event on Sunday 6 October will be the first half marathon Becky has ever run.
