The Salvation Army’s 10,000 sq ft donation centre in Gorseinon, Swansea, opened its doors on 19thDecember. The donation centre is a large format, new concept charity store that has community, sustainability and affordability at its heart. The Gorseinon store is the 42nd of its kind to be opened by the charity in the UK and has seen huge success since its first day. An organisation that represents work-based learning providers across Wales is urging the Welsh Government to support apprenticeships with some of the £283.126 million it has pledged for the education and training of healthcare professionals. The National Training Federation for Wales (NTFW) has welcomed this week’s statement by Minister for Health and Social Services Eluned Morgan which pledged to maintain funding for healthcare professionals for the academic year 2024/25. However, the pledge coincides with a £38m cut to apprenticeships proposed in the Welsh Government’s budget, which has yet to be ratified by the Welsh Parliament/Senedd Cymru. BBC Studios Drama Productions, the UK’s biggest drama production hub outside of London, today announced two new TalentWorks initiatives, offering training and development opportunities for writers and directors on the BAFTA-winning BBC medical drama Casualty. The Casualty Directors’ Scheme is designed to give eight established directors the opportunity to learn how to bring the most exciting episodes of Casualty to life across two bootcamp weekends at the show’s home in Roath Lock, Cardiff.
