A new research collaboration aimed at accelerating capabilities and improving research on maternal and infant health has received a £1.4 million funding boost. The Mother & Infant Research Electronic Data Analysis (MIREDA) partnership, led by the National Centre for Population Health & Wellbeing Research based in Swansea University, has been awarded the grant from the Medical Research Council (MRC). The Chepstow Vintage Club tractor run has raised over £1,000 for Parkinson’s UK Cymru. The charity was chosen by the organisers of the annual event, because of the number of people in the local agricultural community who have been impacted by Parkinson’s. The event was supported by dedicated members of the Chepstow and District Parkinson’s Support Group as the culmination to Parkinson’s Awareness Week. Principality Building Society and Young Enterprise have teamed up to deliver the Fiver Challenge initiative for another three years. Business confidence in Wales rose six points during April to 32%, according to the latest Business Barometer from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking. Companies in Wales reported higher confidence in their own business prospects month-on-month, up nine points at 42%. When taken alongside their optimism in the economy, up three points to 22%, this gives a headline confidence reading of 32%. Following a multi-million-pound site investment, Wales’ leading soft drinks company Radnor Hills has opened its expanded facilities in Powys, mid Wales. To mark its opening, Lesley Griffiths, Wales’ Rural Affairs Minister visited the Knighton site yesterday. The investment has been used to build new production facilities and a quality assurance laboratory as well as to create a new £2.5 million state-of-the-art office complex for staff and a conference facility from an old agricultural building on the site. A mural found in Cardiff created by the mysterious Glaswegian Street artist, The Rebel Bear, is being shown at Blackwater Gallery on the site of the parking dispute which inspired the piece. The artwork, which appeared on hoardings on Ferry Road in July 2022, was painted by the ‘Scottish Banksy’ in support of Cerys Gemma, a disabled woman who lives in the city. Cerys is trying to overturn parking charges for using disabled spaces outside her flat in Prospect Place, Grangetown. Like Banksy, the Rebel Bear’s identity remains a mystery, and they reportedly paint while dressed in a bear costume.…
