A 36-year-old man has been sentenced to life with a minimum term of 20 years and 10 months in prison for the murder of his wife at their home in Plasmarl last year. Just before 6am on Saturday 22nd October 2022 South Wales Police received a call from Daniel White saying he had killed his wife in their home in Idris Terrace by strangling and stabbing her. More court cases could go online to make them more accessible and efficient, according to a new report published by Aberystwyth academics looking at the justice system during the pandemic. Over the last year, a team from Aberystwyth University have looked at the experiences of courts and tribunals, the legal professions and judiciary of remote hearings during the Covid-19 pandemic. The academics evaluated both the challenges and the opportunities presented by the use of remote hearings in family cases, immigration cases, cases involving children, tribunal hearings, civil, and criminal cases. Cardiff Bus have announced changing to its fares and fare zones/boundaries from Sunday 9th April 2023. This will be the first time Cardiff Bus fares have changed in over 4 years.  They were last changed in March 2019. In this time, the bus provider has said they have seen costs increase to a level where they are now in a position that leaves them no option but to increase fares. Roxy Leisure are set to open its new ten-pin bowling venue in Cardiff next month. The latest Roxy Lanes site will be located on Queen Street in Cardiff’s city centre, and will feature an exciting range of activities including ten-pin bowling, ice-free curling, American pool, air hockey, karaoke, arcade games, basketball, beer pong, bank shot shuffleboard, and shuffleboard. Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) member clubs voted overwhelmingly in favour of the Special Resolution tabled at today’s (Sunday 26th March) Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM), in a move set to irrevocably improve governance structures and change the face of the game in Wales for the better, forever. A total of 173 members were represented, and a further 79 voted by proxy, at the Princess Royal Theatre in Port Talbot, with 245 votes (of 252 in total) cast in favour of the resolution, meaning the 75% majority for the motion to pass was easily exceeded (97.2% voted in favour). DODDIE Weir’s 1988 Scotland schools’ teammates have vowed to continue raising money for MND research after completing an epic 88km fundraising challenge in memory of the Scotland rugby legend. More than 20 surviving members of the Scottish schools’ side that toured New Zealand in summer 1988, including former Scotland captain Andy Nicol and 1995 World Cup star Graham Shiel, completed the 48-hour Doddie 88 challenge – a 65km cycle and 23km walk from the Scottish Border to the iconic Doddie Weir statue at Murrayfield.
