Ceredigion Council want to hear from the public on their ideas on how to spend the money made from selling the Old County School in Tregaron. £100,645 is held following the sale of the property in February 2022. The money is currently held by the charity Cardiganshire Intermediate and Technical Education Fund, where Ceredigion County Council is a trustee. A 22-year-old Cardiff Metropolitan University Textiles graduate has high hopes for a career in pattern design after one of her floral prints has been featured on a dress by national fashion retailer, TU Clothing. Imogen Lee, originally from Narberth in Pembrokeshire, displayed her prints at the annual New Designers graduate show in London – one of the showcase events available to her through the BA Textile Design course – and was spotted by Sainsbury’s TU. Swansea Building Society has planted 100 trees at the historic Penllergare Valley Woods estate, as part of its 100th anniversary celebrations. The Society, with branch offices in Mumbles, Swansea, Carmarthen and Cowbridge, planted the trees on Monday, March 20. The event saw 11 Society members, including Finance Director, Nathan Griffiths; Compliance and Risk Director, Catherine Griffiths; and Head of IT, Nick Longar, join with volunteers from the Penllergare Trust to plant the saplings on the estate. The pre-start business grant scheme being delivered by Swansea Council will help cover the costs of equipment or tools, website development and business software, training, accreditation and marketing and promotional work. The grant is part of the business support anchor project being funded by the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. It covers 95% of the of project costs for the first £1,000 of expenditure and 50% for expenditure of between £1,000 and £10,000. The Welsh Government law is set to come into force on September 17 and it will mean streets and roads across the country, including Swansea, see existing 30mph limits reduced to 20mph in most cases. The money will be available for at least three research projects focusing on the deployment of tidal lagoon technology.
