Gyms and fitness clubs across the city are being asked to join the campaign to help tackle violence against women, domestic abuse and sexual violence. Around 200 businesses including martial arts clubs, boxing gyms and yoga and pilates studios across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan will shortly be receiving information and resources to help raise awareness of the issue and enable them to signpost any clients needing help to local and national specialist support providers. An emergency appeal has been launched for households impacted by the devastating explosion in Morriston on Monday. A number of householders in the surrounding properties are unable to return to their homes, and find themselves with substantial damage to their homes and belongings. Swansea Council for Voluntary Service and its local partners are encouraging donations with the money raised being used initially to provide emergency financial support to people immediately impacted by the explosion who may need to replace urgent items that have been damaged or destroyed, and longer term to support additional costs. Sport Pembrokeshire were delighted to hold the Pembrokeshire Schools Disability Swimming Gala recently, having not held the event since 2020. Sponsored by Stena Line, the event saw more than 50 swimmers taking part from Portfield School, Ysgol Glannau Gwaun, Ysgol Bro Gwaun, Greenhill School, Ysgol Harri Tudur and Lamphey Primary School, in 29 races. RCT Council has confirmed that it will officially take over the operation of Catherine Street Car Park in Pontypridd, starting from when the facility reopens on Monday, March 20. During 2022, NCP decided to end its contract for the running of this private car park at short notice. Almost one year since the Homes for Ukraine scheme opened, the Welsh Government has today (Thursday, March 16) announced how it will continue to support people fleeing the war and support those already in Wales to move into longer-term accommodation. Over 6,500 people with sponsors in Wales have escaped Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in the last year, including over 3,000 through the Welsh Government’s super sponsor scheme.
