A Cardiff man has been disqualified from keeping all animals after he caused his dog to suffer with a large mammary mass which had become ulcerated and infected. Aman Kahssay appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 2 August for sentencing. He previously pleaded guilty to one offence under the Animal Welfare Act in that he caused unnecessary suffering to his Staffordshire bull terrier type dog called Holly, by failing to provide a continuation of vet treatment for a large mammary mass which became ulcerated and infected. Joshua Lovering, has been sent to prison for 12 years after being convicted of a number of sexual assaults upon women. Lovering, 20, from Cwmbran, was sentenced for the main offence of an attack where he entered a woman’s home in Bridgend without her permission in September 2022.  He gained access to her home uninvited and attacked her and it was only down to the bravery of the victim that he stopped this attack. A new park, named in honour of Wales’ first female professor, Millicent Mackenzie has officially opened to the public. The park sits behind the National Museum of Cardiff, between Park Place and Museum Avenue, close to what is now Cardiff University and was once theUniversity College of South Wales and Monmouthshire where from 1910-1915 Professor Mackenzie was a professor of Education. An historic Swansea building has a bright new future thanks to its new leaseholder. Swansea Council has just leased Singleton Park’s Swiss Cottage to city-based Tifa Properties. Swansea-born Michael Border, a Tifa director, plans to transform the location into a focal point for park users. He’s eager for more people to enjoy the grade two listed building and its spectacular parkland surroundings. He plans a café plus separate food and drink units – and plenty of undercover seating. The Leader of Neath Port Talbot Council, Cllr Steve Hunt, has welcomed the completion of the latest phase of on-site preparation work at the multi-million pound Wildfox Resort in Port Talbot’s Upper Afan Valley. The walkway over Berw Road Bridge (White Bridge) will be temporarily closed from August 14, as scaffolding is removed and relocated for repairs to the final section of the bridge. Berw Road Bridge, known as White Bridge, was damaged by Storm Dennis, and closed with immediate effect in February 2020 to ensure public safety. The Council worked closely with Cadw to gain consent for major repairs to the Listed structure, which also supports a gas main through a pipe on the bridge. Merthyr Tydfil County Borough Council has this week (10 August) revealed plans to develop a new, family-friendly skate park in Merthyr Tydfil town centre.
