Improvements at Malpas Church in Wales Primary School has led to Estyn removing it from special measures. A visitor to Caldicot leisure centre recently returned to thank the centre’s staff for their quick response when he suffered a potentially fatal medical emergency earlier in the year. Alan Owen of Carmarthen suffered a cardiac arrest while he was at a Walking Football Tournament at the leisure centre on Sunday 3rd April 2022. An education setting in Brecon has expanded its provision to support learners aged 6-11 overcome barriers to learning, the county council has confirmed. The New Start Centre, Powys County Council’s Pupil Referral Unit in Brecon, has been providing alternative education provision to secondary school-aged learners since 2014. A demand-responsive, flexible bus service in Blaenau Gwent has seen passenger numbers increase by almost one fifth in the past six months as people explore more sustainable modes of transport. A leading containerised storage company is to open a new self-storage park in Porthmadog as it continues to expand across North Wales. The Lock Stock Self Storage site will be on the Penamser Trading Estate on land next to the town’s Lidl store. Business confidence in Wales rose 12 points during November to 17%, according to the latest Business Barometer from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking – conducted between 1st-15th November, before the Chancellor’s Autumn Statement announcement on Thursday the 17th November. Companies in the country reported higher confidence in their own business prospects month-on-month, up 24 points at 36%. When taken alongside their optimism in the economy, down one point to -3%, this gives a headline confidence reading of 17%.
