A company at the forefront of the British clean energy industry has secured almost £4 million in government funding to make its biomass and waste-to-hydrogen plants even greener by using carbon capture. Compact Syngas Solutions (CSS) has won £3,979,113 from the Bioenergy with Carbon Capture and Storage (H2BECCS) Innovation Programme, run by the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero (DESNZ). CSS, based in Deeside, Wales, previously won a first round of funding of £246,568. The Royal Welsh Agricultural Society is immensely proud of the Welsh Shearing and Woolhandling Team for taking three out of the six world titles at the 2023 Golden Shears World Championships held at The Royal Highland Show in Scotland last weekend. RCT Council has secured £3.43m funding for Active Travel from Welsh Government in 2023/24 – which includes investment in the Rhondda Fach Active Travel route, establishing a formal route in Cwmbach and Trallwn, and replacing Riverside bridge in Llwydcoed. The total funding of £3,433,700 has been awarded to Rhondda Cynon Taf from the Active Travel Fund, covering the current financial year. The Fitness Suite at Heolddu Leisure Centre has seen £100,000 funding to refurbish and renovate the existing space. The new fitness suite which opened on Monday 19th June has a fresh new look, brand new equipment and an improved gym floor layout. A range of new cardio equipment including rowers, air bikes and ski erg as well as new resistance machines and free weights have created a first-class facility. Senedd Members have voted in favour of the first made-in-Wales Agriculture Bill which will be key in supporting farmers and sustainable food production for generations to come. The Bill, which has been led by the Rural Affairs Minister Lesley Griffiths, will now seek Royal Assent, and if approved, is expected to come into force in Wales later this summer. More than 3,000 jobs were created in Wales over the last year thanks to inward investments – the best results recorded in five years, new figure published today show. The UK Department for Business & Trade annual report on Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) in the UK for 2022-23 published this week shows the number of jobs created has returned to pre-Covid pandemic levels with 3,062 jobs created during the last year, up from 1,793 in 2021-22 – a 66% increase compared to the previous year.
