Caerphilly County Borough Council’s popular Which Way Now? event is set to return on 18th October 2022. In the past the event has attracted hundreds of young people who are seeking employment, education or training opportunities. The event, which is in partnership with Careers Wales, is aimed at school leavers and young people aged 16-24 who are looking for advice and inspiration on what career path to take next. Applications are now open for children starting primary and junior school in September 2023, Powys County Council has said. Parents or carers have until Friday 6 January 2023 to complete their application. Bowel cancer screening will be made available to more people in Wales as home testing is expanded to include 55-57 year olds. The expansion will mean 172,000 more people in Wales will start to receive easy to use kits that test for the early stages of bowel cancer. The move is part of a phased approach to lowering the screening age to 50 by October 2024. A NEW Cancer Research Wales public bus has set to the streets in South Wales to help promote the charity’s bright new brand. With support from Lydon Contracting Ltd and Newport Transport, the branded bus will cover a wide area from the rural routes in Chepstow and Monmouth to city, public and school routes within Newport and Cardiff. The shortlist for the Great British Businesswoman Awards 2022 has been unveiled ahead of a Grand Final in November, and five South-Wales-based women in business have been named as finalists. The Welsh nominees are among 160 finalists in total who have been recognised in the second annual awards in categories including Construction Businesswoman, Social Enterprise Businesswoman and Diversity Initiative of the Year. National Driving School of the Year, RED Driving School, has crowned the Driving Instructor of the Year as Niall Davies from Cardiff in its inaugural Instructor of the Year Awards final. The event took place at Donington Park race circuit on Saturday and saw the regional winners take on a series of challenges to determine the most efficient and best driver, following initial identification of the regional winners based on those with the most 5-star Trust Pilot reviews in their localities. A Polish apprentice has overcome language and hearing disability barriers to make herself a valuable member of the team at a North Wales pre-school setting. Malgorzata Bienko, 41, works at School Lane Preschool in Llandudno, where she has completed a Foundation Apprenticeship in Children’s Care, Play, Learning and Development, delivered by Arfon Dwyfor Training Limited. Having previously been employed in the social care sector, she has quickly adapted to working with young children and loves her job at the pre-school setting where she is encouraged to share Polish culture and traditions.
