South Caernarfon Creameries (SCC) has helped fund the installation of eight community defibrillators across the local area following a successful walking fundraising campaign that raised £8,764. Rooted in communities across north, mid and west Wales, SCC is a Welsh owned dairy co‑operative with member farms that have supplied milk for generations. The total was raised through a JustGiving walking challenge and the Creamery’s annual Christmas raffle that jointly generated enough funding to purchase seven defibrillators. Fundraising challenges have taken place in three Cardiff pools as part of Swimathon 2026.  Swimmers in Eastern, Fairwater and Maindy leisure centres raised £5776.80 for Cancer Research UK, Marie Curie and the Swimathon Foundation. In total, the UK’s foremost leisure charitable social enterprise GLL hosted 1,362 fundraising challenges in 87 of its managed pools for Swimathon 2026 – smashing the tally of 1,054 set in 2025 and raising a record £141k. Individuals swam a variety of distances – 500m, 1.5k, 2.5k, Swimathon 5k and Triple 5k distances – with teams choosing 1.5k, 2.5k and 5k challenges. A brief spell of very warm weather is set to peak across parts of the UK tomorrow, with temperatures potentially reaching 26°C, before a sharp return to cooler and more unsettled conditions later this week. Cardiff residents are set to see changes to their recycling services from this week as the council steps up efforts to hit national targets. Cardiff Council has confirmed new measures aimed at boosting recycling and composting rates, as it works towards the Welsh Government’s legal target of 70%. Recycling rates in the city have improved in recent years, reaching 64% in 2024/25, with early figures for this financial year already at 66.1%. Police forces across Wales are issuing guidance to all candidates standing in the upcoming Senedd elections, aimed at helping them deal with intimidation, abuse and potential criminal behaviour during the campaign period. The guidance, titled When it goes too far: Joint guidance for candidates in elections, outlines what may constitute a criminal offence, when to involve the police, and practical steps candidates can take to protect themselves.
