GMB Union has delayed strike action for talks with RCT leader Andrew Morgan, with the first date of strike action scheduled for 30 July Eleventh hour talks have been scheduled for Wednesday 20 July between GMB refuse workers and Rhondda Cynon Taf County Borough Council. If the talks fail then it could see 130 refuse workers strike in July, leaving around 108,000 homes without refuse collections. Bovine Tuberculosis experts have briefed Welsh Government Ministers at the Royal Welsh Show about the next steps in efforts to control the infection in cattle (Monday 18 July). Aberystwyth University academics met the First Minister, the Minister for Rural Affairs and the Education Minister in Llanelwedd to discuss the latest position with the disease. Work is underway to almost double the number of new nurses being recruited to Swansea Bay. Hundreds of nurses from overseas, known as internationally educated nurses, are being targeted to join the health board. Healthcare support workers are also being encouraged to up-skill and expand their roles. Forty primary schools in Swansea took part in the Enterprise Challenge Market Day in Castle Gardens in Swansea on Thursday June 23. Over 1000 children, aged from 3-11, sold products they have been making throughout the year as part of the drive to encourage enterprise amongst young people.
