The plan now being put together by the region’s four local authorities will unlock money already earmarked for Carmarthenshire, Neath Port Talbot, Pembrokeshire and Swansea as part of the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund. Karen Dear from Penyrheol has been announced as the third winner of Caerphilly County Borough’s Mash for Cash campaign. The Mash for Cash campaign was launched in March 2022 in line with Food Waste Action Week with an aim to increase the number of residents currently recycling their food waste. The campaign sees houses monitored with one food recycling participant chosen at random each month, with each winner receiving £500. Girls at Edwardsville Primary School have tackled their way to the semi-final of the Urdd eisteddfod tournaments, playing within a TAG rugby team and championing diversity in sport. The girl’s rugby team recently reached the semi-finals of the national Eisteddfod competition and will also be taking part in a mixed gendered rugby game with the Urdd on July the 5th. A development of new low energy social housing in Powys has been highly commended in awards that recognise the best construction projects in Wales. A dog owner from Newtown has been find £75 as they didn’t clean up after their dog had fouled on a green space in the town, Powys County Council has said. The council’s Environmental Protection Team was able to take the enforcement action after a member of the public witnessed the incident take place on the green space at Union Street on April 21 and reported it.
