Emergency services and charities are urging defibrillator owners across Wales to register their devices on a groundbreaking national database called The Circuit in a big push to bring the number of mapped defibrillators in the UK past the 50,000 mark. This significant milestone would represent half of the estimated 100,000 defibrillators in the UK being registered on The Circuit. Today in Wales there are around 5,000 public access defibrillators registered with a guardian on The Circuit. The race director for Britain’s leading UCI Women’s WorldTour event has praised the warm reception the world’s best cyclists received when visiting Mid Wales last month. Stage four of the Women’s Tour started from Wrexham before entering Powys at Rhydycroesau. The 148-kilometre route included Llansilin and Penybontfawr before an anti-clockwise loop of Lake Vyrnwy. It then wound its way towards the finish line in Broad Street, Welshpool, via Llanfihangel, Dolanog, Castle Caereinion, Berriew, Montgomery, Forden and Leighton. A group of staff working at the University of South Wales (USW) have been helping to spruce up a community garden as part of the institution’s civic mission work. The nine-strong squad from the Careers Team in the University’s Learning Services department spent an afternoon clearing a path through woods and cutting up branches at the Meadow Street Garden, which is close to USW’s Treforest Campus. Adventure Parc Snowdonia says it now has “the complete package” to attract more conferences, team building courses, away days and other corporate events to the trail-blazing complex in Dolgarrog in Conwy.
