Swansea Council’s Dylan Thomas Exhibition, Central Library and Glynn Vivian Art Gallery are marking the annual Black History Month throughout October. Ceredigion County Council is reminding people who sell pet animals regularly for profit whether that be private sellers who sell from home, using the internet to advertise or advertising locally to be aware of the new legal requirements to be licensed. The law regarding the sale of pet animals was updated in September 2021 to provide wider safeguards to those animals being sold as pets. Highly qualified students from Africa and the Caribbean are struggling to find university accommodation in North Wales because of racism, according to a leading charity. The Bangor-based North Wales Africa Society which has worked with hundreds of immigrant African and West Indian people, says that racism remains an issue for migrants, many of them coming to the region to study for post-graduate qualifications. A biodiversity protect is boosting the protection of wildflowers across Denbighshire. Since 2020 Denbighshire County Council’s Wildflower Meadows Project has recorded 340 different plant species at sites across the county. This year’s season includes over a 100 managed wildflower meadows that have contributed to improved species richness across Denbighshire. These make up nearly 35 football pitches worth of native wildflower habitat. The project began after the Council declared a Climate and Ecological Emergency in 2019 and committed to seeking to become a Net Carbon Zero and Ecologically Positive Council by 2030.
