Kepak is planting 1,000 trees across three-acres at its Merthyr site in Wales, in support of the leading food company’s ambitious sustainability goals. The indigenous trees, which include Elm, Birch, and Hazel, have been specifically chosen to enhance biodiversity and carbon sequestration, and are well suited to the site which experiences high winds and low temperatures. This initiative will add to Kepak Merthyr’s strong sustainability credentials as the site already runs on all green energy sources, including fully renewable electricity. Dion and Cara Evans raised a staggering £17,609 for the Chemotherapy Day Unit in Glangwili Hospital in loving memory of their mother. The siblings organised a 75-mile bike ride last September followed by a day of walking from Aberystwyth to Aberaeron. The challenge fell on the 10th anniversary of their mother’s passing away. A fourth kitten was also reportedly seen to be dumped in Vaynor, and found in a plastic container by a member of the public on Monday evening (25 April). They reportedly saw a car leave the box of kittens at around 6pm in the area and drive off. Two friends have launched North Wales’ first ever LGBTQ+ rugby club, offering a safe and inclusive environment for people to take part in sport. The Conwy Dragons are one of a handful of clubs across Wales set up with the purpose of being fully inclusive.
