ONE of Wales’ leading public relations agencies, Effective Communication, is showing its support for the UK’s largest dog welfare charity, Dogs Trust, by sponsoring A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy, an exciting new art trail that’s taken to the streets of south Wales this Spring.

The trail takes visitors through the heart of Cardiff as well as nearby towns of Caerphilly and Porthcawl, raising vital funds to support Dogs Trust’s rehoming centres in Bridgend and Cardiff, helping the 14,000 dogs normally cared for by the charity every year.

A Dog’s Trail features 40 super-sized Snoopy sculptures designed by Welsh and national artists, as well as 75 smaller sculptures created by schools, colleges and community groups, turning South Wales into an outdoor art gallery.

Cardiff-based agency Effective Communication, established in 2005, has put its paws behind giant Snoopy sculpture ‘Pow-Wow!, which takes its home at Cardiff Bay Barrage Walkway and has been designed by commission artist Jenny Leonard.

Jenny, 38, from London, specialises in murals and site-specific public art for communities and has exhibited over 60 sculptures on public art trails in the past, including a bee in the city of Manchester. Jenny currently draws live illustrations for virtual online events and takes illustration and painting commissions.

Jenny said: “I wanted to put my Snoopy sculpture in a comic style theme he wasn’t used to, in order to create a design that is a fun, bold and vibrant addition to the trail. I love using bold colours and a mix of words and puns so I thought the design was perfect.

“I’ve been involved with various art trails for over 10 years, and the Snoopy shape and character is so iconic that I think everyone will recognize it and really enjoy following it along the streets of south Wales.”

Lydia Lambert, Associate Director, Effective Communication, said: “As a team of dog lovers, we are really excited to be supporting A Dog’s Trail with Snoopy and we were delighted to get involved and support the fantastic work of Dogs Trust.

“Being a Cardiff-based agency, we’ve already taken to the streets ourselves to track down our Snoopy sculpture, Pow-Wow!, and look forward to discovering the rest of the 40 sculptures, which I’m sure will all be equally impressive.”

At the end of the trail, the giant Snoopy Sculptures will be auctioned off to raise significant funds for Dogs Trust, supporting them in finding forever homes for thousands of abandoned dogs.

The trail is now live until 5 June 2022.
