The number of business start-ups in Wales rose by 50.5% between December 2021 and February 2022, according to new research from insolvency and restructuring trade body R3. Despite the financial impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing global economic pressures, the data, which is based on an analysis of data provided by CreditSafe, reveals 1,832 new businesses were registered in Wales last month – an increase of 14.6% from January’s figures (1,599), and of 50.5% on December’s figure of 1,217. A team of 28 amateur cyclists have set off from Cardiff Castle on a gruelling 600km bike ride to Edinburgh Castle. More than 150 spectators gathered to send off the C2Cycling team who are pedalling from castle to castle over the next five days to raise vital funds for Velindre Cancer Centre and LATCH Welsh children’s cancer charity. A group of kind-hearted cub scouts brought joy to care home residents when they paid a surprise visit to deliver handmade Easter cards to them. The youngsters representing the 1st Penycae troop, stopped off at Pendine Park care organisation in Wrexham, before going on to attend their regular weekly meeting. They were joined by local youth celebrity Lilly-Anne Sullivan Gibson, 17, of Rhos, who is the current Miss Teen Powys. Pupils and staff at Gilwern primary school continued the trip of a lifetime on Friday 8th April with a virtual hike that will see them encircle the world. The project, which started in October 2021, will raise cash for charity as well as benefit pupils’ understanding of different countries and cultures, with the current focus being on exploring Indian culture.
