Three people have been sentenced for the murder of Gary Jenkins who died after being assaulted in Bute Park, Cardiff. Dr Gary Jenkins, 54, was attacked during the early hours of Tuesday, July 20, 2021, and died at the University Hospital of Wales on Thursday August 5. Jason Edwards, 25, Lee William Strickland, 36, and Dionne Timms-Williams, 17, have all received life sentences at Cardiff Crown Court. Edwards and Strickland must each serve a minimum of 33 years. A new classroom and childcare setting at a Neath Port Talbot Welsh-medium primary school have been officially opened by Jeremy Miles, the Minister for Education and Welsh Language. Neath Port Talbot Council is making big changes at its waste facility at Crymlyn Burrows to meet modern requirements. Bridgend County Borough Council is urging residents who are unpaid carers to be alert for a new scam. Within days of Welsh Government announcing that more than 57,000 unpaid carers across Wales are to receive a £500 support payment, some residents have reported being contacted by individuals impersonating council officers who have asked for confidential banking details in order to process the payment.
