A symbolic planting event was held at North Wales’ new Commemorative Woodland this week as the nation marks a moment of reflection, two years on since the first Covid lockdown. One of Cardiff’s most culturally diverse allotment associations is planning to make gardening accessible to the disabled and beginners after securing a large charity windfall. Pengam Pavilion Allotments, off Rover Way in Pengam, has been a site for keen gardeners since 1927 and currently has around 70 members producing a wide range of produce, including fruit, vegetables and flowers. A new lifesaving defibrillator unit has been fitted to the exterior of the Coliseum Theatre, for the benefit of the whole community as well as theatre visitors. Funded by the Council’s Arts Service, the installation took place during National Heart Month, a national awareness campaign in the fight against heart disease and how to look after your heart. The defibrillator had previously been located inside the Coliseum Theatre and only available for use during opening hours.
