Joe Talbot, lead vocalist for British rock band Idles, along with fellow musician Willie J Healey will be cycling between two record studios, London to Bristol, to raise money for youth charity Empire Fighting Chance. Their challenge will begin on the 27th August following an IDLES gig at London’s Banquet Records and finishing at Friendly Records on the evening of the 28th. The life of a former Caerphilly MP has been commemorated this week (Tuesday 24th August) on the centenary of his election to parliament. Morgan Jones was elected in 1921 and a special information panel about this key historical figure has been unveiled within Morgan Jones Park, Caerphilly. Morgan Jones was born in Gelligaer in 1885. All community vaccination centres in the Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board region are now accepting walk-ins from anyone aged 16 and over. This allows any 16 and 17-year-old who has been unable to attend their scheduled appointment to get their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. The latest figures from the health board show that 99,000 people in Bridgend County Borough are now fully vaccinated.
