The first ever drive-in Powys Business Awards on the Newtown campus of NPTC Group of Colleges was declared a big success as the event was blessed with fine weather last Friday night. Organised by Mid Wales Manufacturing Group (MWMG), the awards were held outdoors as a health safety precaution because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic. Cardiff Bus customers are being alerted to route changes as a result of essential roadworks taking place in Barry. From Monday 11 October for approximately 6 weeks, Park Crescent will become a one-way system from Colcot in a southerly direction. As a result, services 96/96A towards Cardiff will follow their normal route to Broad Street/Gladstone Bridge roundabout then divert via Gladstone Road, Buttrills Road, Barry Road and Colcot Road before returning to their normal route. A police boss is launching a new campaign to cut crimes against women in Wrexham and make the town a safer place for them. North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Andy Dunbobbin has secured an extra £339,000 in funding to reduce the number of offences involving violence against women and girls by 10 per cent. The new Safer Streets initiative will include improving CCTV coverage, creating safer spaces for woman and girls as well as providing training and education. Corris Railway Society volunteers are continuing to work on the revival of the Mid Wales narrow gauge line and looking forward to a major winter project. The Mid Wales railway, which has only a few weeks left of the 2021 operating season remaining – apart from a planned weekend of Santa Trains in December – will be working on a new track layout and station platform at Corris. A traverser is being constructed by Statfold Engineering which, together with a new point being installed to complete a loop, means that locomotives will be able to run around their trains at…

A walk to showcase Denbighshire’s section of a national walking route has taken place to celebrate its 50th anniversary. The Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) held a walk on Prestatyn hillside along Offa’s Dyke Path, led by Rob Dingle, a national trails officer for the path. The Offa’s Dyke Path is a 177 mile walking trail which includes portions of the Dyke King Offa ordered to be constructed in the 8th century. It was opened in the summer of 1971 and links Sedbury Cliffs near Chepstow with Prestatyn. More than 40 walkers attended the…
