BT has connected four grassroots football clubs in Wales with broadband (Wi-Fi) and provided digital skills training, as clubs and their communities look to recover from the COVID-19 crisis. The work is part of BT’s role as lead partner of Welsh football. Students, staff and parents at Llanishen High School have raised a significant sum, over £6000, by completing a virtual challenge to travel to Patagonia in March. The challenge involved walking, running, cycling and scooting the 12,000 miles it would take to reach Patagonia, the only other Welsh speaking country in the world. It was completed as part of City Hospice’s 100 Heroes Challenge. A new fund has been launched to help make a range of Vale of Glamorgan venues available as remote workspaces. The idea behind the scheme is to offer people work facilities within their localities, avoiding the need to commute to an office. Cowork Local Festival will be launched across the Vale in May with an online platform showcasing the type of spaces that people can work from. Christmas has come early for a Denbighshire primary school which is earning itself much-needed funds thanks to a partnership with a high street giant. Enterprising Ysgol Y Parc Infants school in Denbigh have installed a storage unit from local company Lock Stock Self Storage and are selling surplus stock from Poundland in Rhyl to raise cash for classroom supplies.
