Swansea University is looking for volunteers from South Wales to be part of vital research into how an over-the-counter nasal spray could help protect against Covid-19. A CARDIFF mum who discovered she had breast cancer following a routine mammogram appointment is supporting Cancer Research UK’s latest fundraising campaign, Walk All Over Cancer. Lucia Pavia Mardon was 53 when she attended her third annual breast cancer screening test at Breast Test Wales in Cardiff. She didn’t think there would be a problem as she regularly checked her breasts and couldn’t feel a lump. But after attending the appointment, she received a letter inviting her for further tests. The popular childcare company which already had two nurseries in the city, has opened an additional two. The RSPCA and the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service have teamed up to come to the aid of a sheep stuck on cliffs at Blaenllechau in the Rhondda Fach valley. Officers from the animal welfare charity were alerted after the sheep was spotted stranded on the steep cliff edge by concerned onlookers. RSPCA Cymru enlisted the support of the firefighters from the Ebbw Vale and Barry Green Watch rescue teams, who deployed their rope rescue specialists and abseiled down the cliff face amid rescue efforts. Plans for a default 20mph speed limit on Welsh roads have moved a step closer as eight pilot areas to trial the change have been confirmed. Lee Waters, Deputy Minister for Economy and Transport, said the move will reduce accidents and save lives. The pilot areas will have a phased start from this summer until the end of the year. 19 trees which were temporarily installed on Castle Street last summer are being moved to new permanent homes in Splott Park and Moorland Park. These two parks in Splott have been chosen as sites for the ornamental Pear trees as the area currently has some of the lowest tree canopy coverage in Cardiff. 9 trees will be planted in Splott Park, with 10 being planted in Moorland Park.
