The new community learning complex at Coleg Cambria Llysfasi will serve people in rural areas of north east Wales as part of the Welsh Government’s Prosperity for All vision to provide more education links in towns and villages across the country. The leader of Swansea Council has praised business and residents for their efforts to make the return of indoor hospitality safe across the city. Rob Stewart has also reiterated his plea for the considerate outlook to continue. A unique collaboration between the Welsh Blood Service and Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board will see a Covid-19 field hospital in Bridgend being used to collect vital whole blood donations throughout August. The 400-bed field hospital, located at the site of the old Harman Becker unit in Bridgend, was rapidly established at the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic to provide extra bed capacity to help take pressure off local hospitals. Landlords are calling on the Welsh Government to rethink the decision to extend notice periods for possession to six months. The National Residential Landlords Association (NRLA) has described the decision as ‘draconian’ and has sent an open letter to Wales’ Minister for Housing & Local Government asking them to reconsider. The extension – which does not include possession claims which cite anti-social behaviour – was made under the Coronavirus Act 2020’s emergency powers. The Health Minister Vaughan Gething is urging anyone isolating at home with COVID-19 to contact 111 or their GP if their symptoms don’t improve after seven days or if they experience breathlessness or vomiting, or if fatigue stops them doing their normal daily activities.
