Five men have been arrested, drugs and cash seized, and a cannabis factory shut down following a day of action by police in Barry targeting those who deal in drugs across the community. The Education Minister, Kirsty Williams, has today confirmed that all pupils will be able to return to school in September. The Welsh Technical Advisory Group, which provides scientific and technical advice to Government during emergencies, this week recommended to the Minister that schools “plan to open in September with 100% of pupils physically present on school sites, subject to a continuing, steady decline in the presence of COVID-19 in the community.” The paper which includes this advice will be published today. Work is underway to extend and improve buildings at a comprehensive school in Swansea to meet the growing demand for Welsh medium education places in the city. The investment at Ysgol Gyfun Gwyr will also provide new outdoor sports facilities. Kier Construction has been appointed as the main contractor for the work that is being jointly funded by Swansea Council and the Welsh Government. Swansea residents who would like to raise funds for community projects are invited to a virtual workshop hosted by crowdfunding specialists. The free event, to be run twice – on July 15 and 22 – through online video conferencing facility Zoom, will be run by specialist funding organisation Spacehive.
