The Welsh Government (WG) has reinforced its commitment to protecting Welsh livestock from Bluetongue, a serious viral disease, with new disease control measures coming into effect in time for 1 July. To date, Wales has successfully kept Bluetongue serotype 3 (BTV-3) from circulating locally and remains BTV-3 free. Recognising the introduction of the England-wide Bluetongue Restricted Zone (RZ) from 1 July, WG is implementing updated movement controls to safeguard Welsh livestock. WALES’ First Minister visited a £14m health and wellbeing complex and welcomed plans for a new Welsh language centre at a leading college. Eluned Morgan MS toured the state-of-the-art Nant building at Coleg Cambria Yale in Wrexham, which includes an immersive learning environment and Iâl Spa, an industry-standard facility, complete with sauna, steam room, jacuzzi and health food bar. Cwmbran-based care service organisation, Expanding Horizons, has acquired Enable Care Services (South Wales) Ltd to expand its support service capabilities following a £3.25m funding boost from NatWest. Celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, Expanding Horizons provides a range of personalised support services for individuals living with learning disabilities and severe mental illnesses (SMI’s) so they can lead fulfilling and rewarding lives. 36-year-old Dean Bradley from Neath sexually assaulted his victim over the course of a year. The victim had the strength to disclose the horrific abuse to a family member at the end of last year. But there was more than meets the eye to this 70 year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil, as officers found out when they stopped him. A 70-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil has been jailed for dealing heroin. Gareth Evans, of North Street, Merthyr Tydfil, was driving his black Vauxhall Mokka through Abercanaid when he was stopped by officers from the organised crime team. A landlord has been sentenced for a ‘flagrant disregard of the law’ relating to a property that was rented out in City Road, Cardiff. Mohammed Abdul KowsorChoudhury, from Cyncoed, Cardiff, and his company, Pine Best Ltd, were fined a total of £54,000, with a further £10,000 in costs, when the case was heard at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Monday (June 16). This image shows how a street plaza-style facility for skateboarding and other wheel sports will look at Swansea’s Victoria Park. Swansea Council will soon be advertising for a contractor to carry out the improvement works at the area of the park where the skate ramp is currently located. The design follows consultation with skateboarders, fans of other wheel sports and local residents where hundreds of views were taken on board. A Pembrokeshire community, some of whom have faced years of reliance on bottled water, is now benefitting from a clean, reliable mains water supply following the successful completion of a project led by Pembrokeshire County Council’s Pollution Control Team.
