Work has started to transform two Swansea Bay hospital gardens into beautiful places for patients, visitors and staff to enjoy. A courtyard at Morriston Hospital and the grounds of Gorseinon Hospital are being completely redesigned thanks to funding from the National Lottery People’s Projects. More than £50,000 was awarded to the Healthy Hospital Gardens initiative, led by Keep Wales Tidy, to update the spacious outdoor areas. Rhondda Cynon Taff Council has announced plans to provide financial support to residents and businesses affected by the flooding following Storm Dennis. The Council will provide support, via a new Community Flood Recovery Grant – Hardship Payment, of £500 for residents and £1,000 for businesses, which have suffered internal property damage through flooding. It is estimated that over 530 homes and at least 300 businesses across the County Borough have been affected by flood waters. Wales rugby fans and bus users in Cardiff are being urged to plan their journeys ahead of time as the Six Nations returns to the city this weekend. Travellers are being reminded by Cardiff Bus of diversions and road closures which are set to come into force on Saturday as Wales take on France at the Principality Stadium. Independent café, Wildflower Kitchen, has opened its doors in Cardiff after securing a five-figure funding package from NatWest. Entrepreneur Celyn Baker obtained £50,000 in finance from NatWest to help acquire the 250 sq m premises on Whitchurch Road and transform the former Greek restaurant into a 80-cover café. Offering all-day brunch, a range of homemade cakes and lunch, the menu has been developed to change with the seasons including hot pots in winter and a daily-changing salad bar. Construction of a new 107,000 sq ft office building at John Street in central Cardiff has reached a key milestone with the completion of the ground floor ‘slab’, and the building is now ahead of programme.
