A man who was found asleep in a car next to bundles of cash, has been ordered to pay back more than £35,000, he made from his criminal lifestyle. Joseph Hilton, aged 23, of Manchester, was sentenced in July 2018, to 9 months imprisonment after pleading guilty to offering to supply a controlled drug of class B – cannabis and acquiring/use/possess criminal property. Officers investigating an assault which left a pensioner in a critical condition in hospital have made two arrests. Two men, aged 40 and 36, were arrested yesterday on suspicion of attempted murder, following the incident on Garnswllt Road, Pontarddulais, on January 9th. The 36-year-old has since been released under investigation, while the 40-year-old remains in custody. The Welsh Innovation Centre for Enterprise, Welsh ICE, has opened its next round of funded spaces and is now inviting applications from vibrant startups and entrepreneurs. The funding is designed to give startup businesses a structured route to sustainability, creating jobs and boosting the Welsh economy. A private hire taxi driver was ordered to pay £280 in court for smoking a cigarette in his cab at a petrol station in Coryton. Mr Gary Saleh, from North Road in Cardiff, didn’t appear at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court last Thursday (January 24th) and was prosecuted in his absence The incident happened last year on May 16th, when a member of the public witnessed Mr Saleh light up a cigarette at the Asda petrol station and reported the incident to the Shared Regulatory Services. A police boss has vowed to crack down on drugs gangs and child sexual exploitation after his proposed 38p a week rise in the cost of policing was approved. Among the other priorities revealed by  North Wales Police and Crime Commissioner Arfon Jones are tackling domestic abuse, cyber crime and modern day slavery. A team of colleagues from specialist financial services provider, Wesleyan, is set to raise more than £7,500 for Welsh cancer charities by walking from Swansea to Birmingham in just 12 days. They are raising money for Maggie’s Centre in Swansea and the Old Mill Foundation in Penclawdd. These charities supported Wesleyan financial consultant Kerry Jones, who lives in Swansea, when he was diagnosed with an aggressive and rare form of cancer.
