A group of HND Public and Emergency Services learners at Cardiff and Vale College have become the first college students to serve as Community First Responders for the Welsh Ambulance Service. The learners are based at the College’s Barry campus and its Cardiff International Sports Campus in Leckwith. They will respond to their local communities. Each student has gone through the rigorous process to earn the title of Community First Responder. They completed applications, interviews, DBS clearance, ten hours of pre-course study and 40 hours of advanced medical training. Police in Bridgend are appealing for information concerning the whereabouts of Neil Cook who has been reported as missing. Mr Cook, 44, was last seen at his home in Bryntirion between 3.30pm and 4.00pm on Friday 11 January. When last seen he was wearing blue jeans, trainers and a dark Superdry hooded top and a flat cap. Local boy Ellis Wellington went to visit the Amazon fulfilment centre in Swansea for a behind-the-scenes tour to say thank you that the team ran the Swansea Bay 10K to raise money for a cause close to his heart. Tŷ Hafan is one of the UK’s leading paediatric palliative care charities and offers care to children and support for their families throughout Wales. Ellis benefited from the charity’s services when he was diagnosed with Muscular dystrophy in his early years. 16 members of the Amazon team in Swansea took part in the race and raised a total of £1,120 for Tŷ Hafan.…
After nine years, seven rounds of IVF treatment and the heartache of three miscarriages, the Brynamman couple were overjoyed to find out they were going to be parents at last – and to twins. But it would prove to be the start of a dramatic journey culminating in the babies being delivered by emergency C-section and Emma becoming critically ill. Police investigating an assault which has left a pensioner in a critical condition in hospital are appealing for help to identify a potential suspect. The 72-year-old victim remains at the University of Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, after she was found with serious head injuries at her home on Garnswllt Road, Pontarddulais, at around 8.15am on Wednesday, January 9th.
