Education researchers have published a special booklet to support pupils in Welsh medium schools from homes where the language is not spoken. Entitled Partner, Promote and Provide, the booklet was co-created in workshops led by Aberystwyth University which brought together education partners from Ceredigion and Powys, with input from parents and pupils. It builds on a series of research studies by the School of Education which began during the Covid-19 lockdowns in 2020 and which explored the impact of the pandemic on pupils along with the additional challenges facing Welsh-medium schools in extending support to children from non-Welsh-speaking homes. Welshpool-based Get Jerky Rally North Wales, originally set for March 29, has been cancelled due to access restrictions in the Welsh forests in the aftermath of Storm Darragh. A woman from Neath Port Talbot has been jailed for her role in the supply of Class A drugs. 58-year-old Tracey Crew, from Aberavon, was subject of a warrant at her home address on November 29. Upon officers’ arrival, she pointed them towards a plastic carrier bag containing cocaine, a large amount of bank notes, a notebook and a fake soup tin can which contained several large wraps of white powder. Thanks to the efforts of Ceredigion’s residents and businesses, Ceredigion County Council has been one of the highest performing Local Authorities for recycling for a number of years. However, increasing Welsh Government recycling targets and the need to reduce costs mean that changes need be made to increase recycling further. From April 2025, households will be limited to three bags of non-recyclable waste per 3-weekly collection cycle.
