Vivien Price from Mumbles in Swansea is ten years old, but it’s not safe for her parents to take their eyes off her for a second. This Saturday is UK Armed Forces Day. Swansea will be marking the occasion with a special ceremony at the Guildhall Rotunda at 11am to raise the Welsh Armed Forces Day Flag. The event is being hosted by the Lord Mayor of Swansea, Cllr Paxton Hood-Williams, and everyone is welcome to come along. A two-night road closure is needed on the A4119 between Coed Ely and Ynysmaerdy roundabouts (9pm to 6am, June 27 and 28) to safely lift a new footbridge into place as part of the ongoing dualling scheme. Once-in-a-generation reforms to strengthen democracy in Wales have passed into law this week (24 June) with the Senedd Cymru (Members and Elections) Act gaining Royal Assent. A new first-time buyer study from the UK’s biggest property website Rightmove reveals that the average first-time buyer mortgage payment has risen by 61% since the last election year of 2019. Over the last five years, the average mortgage payment for a typical first-time buyer home has risen from £667 per month to £1,075 per month, as average mortgage rates have risen and remained elevated.
