RSPCA Cymru is appealing for information after 13 guinea pigs were abandoned down a lane in Cardiff and are now receiving vet treatment for mites. The 13 guinea pigs are currently at a boarding establishment and under the care of Merthyr Tydfil Veterinary Clinic as the RSPCA conduct enquiries. RSPCA Animal Rescue Officer Lauren Perry said the guinea pigs were found in the Connaught Road area of Cardiff on 26 May. Passengers going to holiday hot spots like Tenby and Saundersfoot can now travel on brand new trains as Transport for Wales’ Class 197s have been added to the Pembroke line. The made-in-Wales Class 197s made their first appearance on the line between Swansea/Carmarthen and Pembroke Dock on Monday 10 June, with the majority of services using a three-carriage train. Islwyn High School in Oakdale is set to benefit from a new multi-use games area (MUGA) and the development of a new a specialist pupil support area. Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Cabinet unanimously approved proposals to provide financial support of £145,000 for the project from the Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) fund. New planning guidance has been introduced in Powys with the aim of making it easier to set up market gardens or smallholdings in the county. The advice covers the need to have a home nearby when running a small-scale horticultural business in the Powys Local Planning Authority area (all parts of the county outside of Bannau Brycheiniog National Park).
